French Visit

Two French helicopters came by the helipad yesterday to drop of a guy who walked in with a wrapped up hand, not too bad. These helicopters are made by the French/German company Eurocopter. They are bigger than a Blackhawk but smaller than a Chinook. I think their version of a Special Forces machine.

The Air Force had their Hawk in for the night, it is much more loaded with equipment than the Army Blackhawk.

Close up view of the Air Refuel Nozzle. The bubbles underneath are radar and infrared, the mini-gun is wrapped up on the side.

German Dune Buggy

This Special Forces vehicle is smaller than the US Humvee and has a place to mount just about anything needed. The door was open another time I went by and a machine gun was mounted to the inside of the door for quick access. The mount on top is for a larger gun.

German Air Ambulance

It was different to show up at work and see a German civilian air ambulance jet fueling on our ramp. I found out a German civilian worker was hurt and his company I guess sent a jet to pick him up from the hospital to transfer back home. I think its a Cessna Citation built in the US.

Shared the Hanger

For the week we shared the hanger with a crew doing an inspection on a Chinook. This is how to handle the blades. The yellow piece under the hook is the sling, it cradles a blade for removal or install. It still takes 4 guys to get it in a sling though. We do it the same on Blackhawks, our sling is smaller, like everything compared to the Chinook.
