Word for the day trivia
I work with guys from all over, the world that is.
For some reason they delight in coming up with different slang terms for me as a United States of America citizen. I've heard "Hey, North American" a lot. I always say, that I'm not Mexican or Canadian.
The new one yesterday was "Hey, Spamy". I needed that one interpreted for me, so the guy explained it had nothing to do with computers, much older in origin.
Something about World War 2 and the British were introduced to the Army C-Ration which contained a can of the meat product "SPAM".
From then on, it was not only Yank, but Spam.
