At the boat ramp
Around the side of our small runway is the river that is on two sides of the compound. I went over after work to take some pictures and after these two, security guards said that I would need Shells permission to photograph the river. I didn't say anything but, OK, have a nice day.
Something that I haven't seen since being here, a monkey crossed the road on my way home from work. It wasn't a small one either. Like a big spider monkey. I wanted to yell out, "hey its a monkey!", but then it's probably not a big deal for most people here.

Google Earth View
The Google Earth picture didn't shrink up too well to see the pin points, but anyway this is the Shell Warri Facility. The yellow pin on the far right is my house, #43 Coronation Street, the pin just above and to the left is the Park & Shop market which is attached to the elementary school, the center pin is the hospital and far left pin is the Shell Hanger where we work. New Hanger Floor
It has taken over 2 months to get to the point that concrete actually flowed. The story of our new hanger floor is long from the time Shell gave the go-ahead to now. I could not believe how much red tape is involved to get a project done here. From all the Gov't rules ( like a guy with a first aid kit sitting close by ) to the local city officials hammering out a list of demands ( so many local workers and a donation to the city ). The contractor doing it isn't from Nigeria.
We finally have something going for our waiting. Thats the smallest concrete truck I have ever seen and the whole floor is being done in 10 foot squares. I have no idea if its going to any kind of level.

I wanted a baked potato
The compound market does not have any fresh fruits or vegetables, so if I want something I have to ask my housekeeper or someone else to bring it in from outside. I thought it would be nice to have a baked potato to go along with some chicken that I had.
Well, I was somewhat disappointed to see my new potatoes. I don't think she has ever been to Idaho and seen a real potato. I guess if I baked them all it would add up to a regular one.

Lagos Airport
I flew in on Sunday morning after the all night flight and a company driver took me to the Domestic side of the airport to catch my flight to Warri. The flight had been canceled, so I had to call the driver back and get to the company compound to spend the night and get a flight for the next day. I showed up to the airport at 10am for the 11 am flight which was delayed until 3pm.
I took this picture out the window at the Domestic terminal looking out to the Nigerian Air Force part of the airport. All they have are some cargo C-130, probably ex-US Air Force planes. The Lagos airport is very big with 2 runways, but all the terminals are spread out, it usually takes about 15 minutes by car to go from the international terminal around to the domestic terminal.
